Lab Packaging Testing Engineer I - Swing Shift

We are seeking a Packaging Testing Engineer 1 with a background in Packaging or Industrial Technology who will conduct and support package testing and validation. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong personal attributes and behaviors that will be instrumental for growth as a Test Engineer. This is a very hands-on, active role with physical demands to support client testing.

THIS IS A SWING SHIFT POSITION! - 2 PM - 10:30 PM

A Test Engineer will:

• The primary focus is to conduct client-requested package testing. Testing standards are defined by ISTA and ASTM standards, customer requirements, and WESTPAK Quality Management System.
• Accurately conduct testing and data management to ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Ensure order accuracy and quality through document control, standard operating procedures, and auditing
• Provide a high level of customer service for onsite testing support. Partner with customers as the Westpak “host” for onsite package testing needs.
• Maintain Westpak 5S and various site standards and expectations.
• Maintain responsive customer communication regarding testing services provided. Update customer on test status, updates, results explanation, and consultation for improvements and recommendations.
• Support Internal customer departments like Engineering Services with customer support or technical expertise.
• Responsible duties that support the site lab operations include, but are not limited to, duties associated with logistics, administration, and facilities.

Requirements for Eligibility

• B.S. Degree in Engineering, Packaging or Packaging emphasis, or equivalent technical education degree.
• 2-5 years of working laboratory experience in conducting product/packaging testing is preferred.
• Experience in packaging or product testing, or the related industry is ideal.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as protocols, industry specifications, and procedures.
• Understanding packaging fundamentals.
• Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite products and general computer literacy.
• Math skills: Intermediate to advanced algebra, statistics, and geometry.

Currently anticipated starting salary range is $30-34 an hour, depending on experience, with company-wide bonus incentives and Employee Stock Ownership Participation.
