They are seeking a seasoned Warehouse and Shipping/Receiving Manager to lead their Ohio-based operations within the packaging industry. This critical role is responsible for overseeing all facets of warehouse management, including inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping and receiving, and international container imports. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in managing global logistics, particularly container imports, and demonstrates proficiency with ERP systems. A deep understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is essential to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on driving operational excellence through process optimization, continuous improvement, and team development. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a commitment to maintaining high standards in safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This Job Will Have The Following Responsibilities Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping, ensuring efficient and accurate workflow execution. Manage international container shipments, coordinating import logistics, delivery scheduling, and timely receipt of materials from overseas suppliers. Leverage the ERP system to monitor inventory, track shipments, and maintain accurate warehouse documentation and reporting. Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality control standards to maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready warehouse environment. Lead, train, and mentor warehouse staff, cultivating a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Identify and implement process improvements to optimize warehouse layout, streamline operations, and enhance overall productivity. Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies to ensure inventory accuracy and optimal stock levels. Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, production, and logistics teams to align warehouse activities with broader supply chain objectives. Ensure full compliance with OSHA and other regulatory safety standards through regular training, inspections, and proactive risk mitigation. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, on-time delivery, and inventory turnover to drive operational excellence. Use Excel and other analytical tools to forecast inventory needs, identify trends, and generate performance dashboards and reports. Negotiate freight rates and evaluate transportation options to secure cost-effective, reliable shipping solutions. Manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and performance expectations for warehousing, distribution, and transportation services. Qualifications & Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience (e.g., 10+ years in warehouse operations) will also be considered. Warehouse Operations: Over 10 years of progressive experience in warehouse management, including several years in a leadership role. Experience in the plastics or packaging manufacturing industry is highly desirable. International Logistics: Demonstrated success in managing international container shipments, including coordination with freight forwarders and navigating customs processes. ERP Systems: Proficient in using similar enterprise resource planning systems for inventory and warehouse management. GMP & Quality Standards: Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) with hands-on experience implementing and maintaining quality standards in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Inventory Management: Deep understanding of inventory control methods, warehouse best practices, and supply chain principles. Regulatory Compliance: Familiar with OSHA regulations and safety compliance standards; experience working in ISO or SQF-certified facilities is a plus. Leadership & Team Development: Proven ability to lead, train, and develop high-performing warehouse teams in a fast-paced environment. Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners. Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills with experience using KPIs and data-driven insights to guide operational decisions and improvements. Continuous Improvement: Experience with lean warehousing, 5S, or Six Sigma methodologies to drive process efficiency and operational excellence. Excel Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, and macros for data analysis and reporting. Negotiation & Vendor Management: Skilled in negotiating freight rates and managing relationships with carriers and logistics providers. 3PL Oversight: Experience managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers, including contract oversight and performance monitoring against service level agreements (SLAs).
