Circular Services is a leader in the municipal recycling industry. Circular Services was established in 2003 and soon became the cornerstone of the New York City curbside recycling program. In addition to NYC, Circular Services now serves several NJ municipalities and counties, and in recent years has expanded operations to Florida. We are an operations-intensive business, processing large tonnages at multiple facilities, producing sorted commodities for the recycled materials market.

We are currently looking for Scale Operators to join our facility in Mecklenburg, NC

Job Summary

The scale house operator is responsible for helping to maintain the day-to-day operation

and administrative duties associated with operation of the scale(s) and office assistant

functions. This position requires a detail-oriented person able to maintain focus in a fast pace processing plant.

Major Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Operate scale house computers to obtain weight information for incoming recycle haulers and outbound shipments.
  • Compare scale tickets and bills of lading to verify accuracy of shipment contents and weights
  • Operates traffic control devices to allow vehicles to proceed to tipping area and exit from facility
  • Issues receipts to vehicle driver and collects tickets
  • Maintain accurate overall record keeping for reporting and analysis
  • Use of radio communications with worksite operators
  • Communicating with haulers and truck drivers
  • Communicating with Supervisors and Peers, providing information to supervisors and co-workers by telephone, written form, and email and in person.
  • Performing day to day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  • Maintain, monitor, and clean work areas, counters, windows and area around scale house
  • Follows company safety policies and procedures to prevent injuries and accidents

Job Qualifications

  • Use computers to enter data and process information
  • Detail oriented in obtaining, documenting and recording information from all relevant sources
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work well in a noisy environment
  • Organized and punctual
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • This position reports directly to the Office Supervisor and must be able to function with minimal supervision
  • A positive attitude is essential
  • Interact with truck drivers, haulers, vendors, customers in a friendly and professional manner

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
