Position Summary

We are looking for a knowledgeable and responsive
Flood Underwriter to support the rapid growth of our Flood program. The ideal candidate has experience underwriting both residential and commercial flood risks, including in complex flood zones and with large property schedules.

This role requires sound technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with brokers, processing, and compliance. Experience with NFIP and private flood markets is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal flood submissions for Primary and Excess Flood business.
• Evaluate risk data including elevation, flood zones, valuation, prior losses, and coverage structure.
• Ensure compliance with SSIU and carrier-specific underwriting guidelines.
• Communicate directly with agents to clarify submissions and negotiate terms.
• Review and approve quotes, endorsements, and policy documentation.
• Work closely with internal teams to meet service standards, including 24-hour turnaround on submissions.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous improvement of our flood programs.

What You Bring

• 3+ years of experience in personal or commercial lines underwriting, with a focus on flood (NFIP or private).
• Solid understanding of flood rating, insurance-to-value, and elevation requirements.
• Familiarity with FEMA, CBRA zones, and coastal/inland risk segmentation.
• Strong communication and decision-making skills.
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated, with a commitment to timely, accurate work.
• Experience using carrier portals and underwriting/rating software.
• Active Property & Casualty license preferred.
