We are seeking a dedicated Inpatient Coder to join our team. Job Summary and Qualifications As a remote Inpatient Coding Specialist, you will review hospital inpatient medical records to assign, sequence, edit, and validate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes. You will perform coding and code/DRG validation across multiple entities. Responsibilities include: Assigning, sequencing, validating, and editing codes/DRGs and abstracted data for inpatient records using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS. Documenting diagnosis descriptions with appropriate codes and POA indicators. Documenting procedures with appropriate ICD-10-PCS codes, dates, and surgeons. Handling admitting diagnoses and discharge dispositions. Completing coding portions of IRF-PAI when applicable. Maintaining accuracy and productivity standards. Using complete patient documentation for coding and validation. Initiating and reviewing physician queries per policy. Performing CARS III duties as needed. Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in HIM/HIT preferred. At least 2 years of inpatient acute care coding experience. RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification preferred. High school diploma or GED required.
