We are looking for a Copy Editor who have a keen understanding of omni-channel marketing creative, a working knowledge of social marketing practices and an eye for perfection. Beyond simply correcting spelling, grammar and specific Disney word usage, you will be asked to maintain and implement a style guide for Disney nomenclature, promote adherence to the Disney tone of voice in accordance with the audience we are addressing and implement the rigor of best practices in social copy and emerging media. You will report to the Director, Creative.

This is a full-time role.

What You Will Do:

  • Complete projects from the Copy Editor job queue, review and make relevant proofreading comments/notes in a timely manner.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and ensure all creative work adheres to Disney’s high-quality standards, tone of voice and Disney-specific nomenclature.
  • Exhibit proficiency in the knowledge and skills essential to this role, keeping current on evolving nomenclature, grammar, usage and spelling.
  • Coordinate with the Project Management and Traffic to manage and anticipate workflow needs on a daily/weekly basis as needed to ensure the essential projects are completed in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years of proofreading/copy editing experience in a marketing, advertising or related business.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written with type A-level attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with the Workfront environment and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Ability to follow-up with Copywriters to discuss issues, solicit feedback and develop good working relationships to better understand the business needs and issues.
  • Coordinate closely with fellow Copy Editors to ensure consistency, maximize throughput, and provide backup on other lines of business.
  • Apply Disney quality standards to all work reviewed to ensure work that is high-quality, free of errors, thorough and complete.
  • Ability to discuss all differences of professional opinion directly with fellow team members to reach consensus.
  • Continually look for ways to improve work efforts in terms of quality (error free) and volume of work reviewed.
  • Knowledge and genuine interest in the Walt Disney Company history–including films, animation, television and theme parks (particularly Disneyland Resort).

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
